Located in 11 communities throughout Utah, Family Support Centers are state licensed facilities that assist families by offering a safe, homelike environment where parents can bring their children during time of high stress, emergency, or crisis.
The crisis respite nurseries proved care for children ages 0-11, and are intended primarily as a means of preventing abuse. Nursery services are supplied free of charge, and are available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, for up to 72 hours per visit.
Parenting skills classes are offered at each Family Support Center to aid parents in becoming more effective in their interactions with their children. These complimentary classes cover topics such as: communication, stress reduction, teaching family values, limit setting, natural and logical consequences, and emotion coaching.
Each Family Support Center offers further services that meet the needs of the particular community in which they are located. Additional services may include but are not limited to: therapeutic treatment services, counseling for children and adults, emergency food and housing services, and referral services.
